I should want the Grand National to win and being a Mustang guy, I should despise Camaros but I love the third gen. It's the only Camaro I've ever liked.

That specific 3rd gen is one of two of my idol Camaros that I would love to follow if I built one, the other being a widebody IMSA/Trans-Am car. What generation is the Mustang?

I never liked third gen camaros until I read a dare to be different article in popular hot rodding with a render of a clean third gen with shaved door handles. I am young enough that I never saw a clean third gen but old enough to appreciate one.

There's no Mustang on tonight's episode, unfortunately. I also would follow that red Camaro as a build plan if I took the plunge. 3rd gens are cheap enough for me to consider going for it too, haha.

I'm not old enough either, but I had a blue IROC die-cast that left a major impression on me.

I picked up one just like this a few weeks ago, it is a great casting of an iconic 80's car.

It is ridiculous that the car on TG:USA only had 175-ish stock horsepower. Anyone with a wrench could double or triple that amount of power from a small-block chevy, depending on how deep into the block they are willing to dig. That is the hallmark of the small-block chevy. A mildly healthy SBC Camaro, other than obvious traction issues (no drag radials on that IROC), should be able to out-torque an ailing 3.8 V6 with a bleeding and aftermarket turbo that is off-boost.
I am amazed that a stock IROC Z could be found.... even if it were stock looking... who wouldn't tune the engine up to 350+ horsepower?
It was also cruel to hurt that little gem of an AW11 supercharged MR2.
I was sad not to see a Fox Mustang... running from 79-93, it encompassed and epitomized the '80s, entirely. But any example worth having on the show would have been just as much of a cheater as the Grand National... and would have cost more than $5K to buy.

Wow, that brings back memories.
